A very common question, and the answer is "NO, not at all ". The pilot runs
down a gentle slope and glides away from the mountain. The launches are a smooth
transition from ground to the air. There is no free-falling or jumping off of cliffs
Floating gently under your canopy you feel totally at ease, knowing that you
have more or less complete control over where you are going. It is a gentle adventure,
once airborne the experience can be serene, quiet and peaceful.
There is an element of potential risk involved, but if you are prepared to learn
paragliding properly, stick to the rules, respect the elements and understand your
own limitations the risk involved is very small indeed. Even a fear of heights is
rarely a factor, as there is no sensation of falling.
During training you fly in supervised conditions where most of your decisions are
taken by your Instructors as you gradually learn to take charge. For past 13 years
we have maintained a 100% safety record and the worst that has happened is a sprain
in the ankle.
