Pioneers in discovering Kamshet as a paragliding destination for not only India but the world. Leaders in bringing international standards to the country through the only International Paragliding Association, APPI – Association of Paragliding Pilots & Instructors, based in Switzerland. Templepilots is now conducting an APPI Pro-Workshop (for Solo pilots and Professional Tandem Pilots and Instructors) for the first time in Bir, the Mecca of flying in India & among the top 10 paragliding destinations in the world. APPI Master Instructor Avi Malik & Co-Founder, Templepilots, has been organising & conducting Pro-Workshops for professionals in paragliding since 2015 – a pioneering effort to promote international standards of paragliding education and to raise the standards of safety & quality of training in the country. ![APPI WORKSHOP FOR TANDEM PILOTS AND INSTRUCTORS IN BIR HIMACHAL 21](https://www.templepilots.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_7819-1024x768.jpg) It is also a record that there is a woman professional participating in a Pro-Workshop for the first time in India. It’s a proud moment for us. A fine example of this growing culture of safety & high training standards is Kamshet. Over 75% of Tandem Pilots in Kamshet have earned their APPI International Tandem Pilot License after undergoing a strenuous & intense Pro-Tandem Workshop. They have received international standard of education and undergone APPI Written, Online, Oral and Field Examinations to earn their APPI License. This is one of the main reasons why Kamshet has maintained high standards of safety in both Tandem & Training operations. Paragliding has particularly never been banned in Kamshet unlike in other parts of the country. India is extraordinarily blessed with landscapes that belong among the finest flying sites in the world. Our citizens deserve the opportunity to experience them with dignity, with the best of international education, and with safety as a non-negotiable foundation. We are happy that these international standards are being accepted in other parts of the country and the Indian paragliding community is more open to raising its safety standards. The Workshop is being organised by Templepilots & conducted by APPI Master Instructors Avi Malik & Roland Dorozhani and supported by APPI Staff Mihir Joisher. This is just the beginning. If we get the training right, if we get the culture right, the sky over India will be safer, more open, and more joyful for everyone.
