Avi Malik is a trailblazer in Indian aviation and paragliding, combining over 30 years of aviation experience with a passion for empowering others through flight. An ex-Indian Air Force fighter pilot, Avi is the founder of Templepilots Paragliding School, Asia’s leading paragliding institution, and a cornerstone of India’s adventure sports industry.
A Legacy of Aviation Excellence
Avi began his aviation journey as a cadet at the National Defence Academy, where he earned the prestigious President’s Gold Medal and the “Best in Flying Trophy.” As an IAF fighter pilot, he excelled in aerobatics and formation flying, laying the foundation for his lifelong love of the skies.
India’s Most Qualified Paragliding Instructor
Avi is India’s only APPI International Master Instructor, holding certifications in SIV, XC, Acro, Tandem, Winch, and Paramotoring instruction. Recognized globally for his expertise, he is a member of APPI’s Pedagogical Committee and serves as President of APPI’s Safety and Disciplinary Committee.
Pioneering Paragliding in India
In 1996, Avi became India’s first national paragliding champion and went on to represent the country in international competitions. He transformed Kamshet, Maharashtra, from a rural town into a world-class paragliding destination, attracting enthusiasts from around the globe. Templepilots, a 5-star-rated APPI school, has trained over 8000+ pilots , with over 750 active club members.

Avi’s leadership extends to serving as Meet Director and Safety Director at international events, including the introduction of paragliding at the 2018 Asian Games. His contributions have shaped global safety standards, earning him unanimous election to APPI’s global committees.
