Hey everyone, so this is a story of how I fell in love with nature and flying with Temple Pilots.
I did my first tandem flight in 2021. Skipping to 2023, I tried learning the sport with an organisation in Bir. I did solo flights and enjoyed them but didn’t get to know much about the sport except ground handling. Thankfully I met some “Temple Pilots” club pilots in Bir itself and they suggested me to do the further training with Temple Pilots. In 2025, I finally came to Temple Pilots base to get trained for the sport and major difference that I found was the attention to the safety, to the theory and to the details of the Paragliding. Believe me “safety” is the most important thing in Paragliding and the more knowledgeable/aware you are in this sport, the more safe you are in the sky. “Good pilot is not the one who knows how to take off, good pilot is the one who knows when not to take off”. Now that I know better about the sport, I realise how risky it was to have my first solo flight from the second highest Paragliding spot in the world.
My experience with Temple Pilots was blissful. Every instructor was so friendly and at the same time so serious about the sport, which is necessary and I want to thank Temple Pilots from the bottom of my heart and especially Avi Sir and Anita Ma’am for making Temple Pilots happen. I feel very grateful that I got to experience learning this beautiful aviation sport, paragliding, with Temple Pilots.

Temple Pilots is the best place to learn Paragliding. Not that I have been to other places to compare, but I don’t need to. The instructors, equipment, training, safety everything is just perfect.
I opted for a 4 day P1 course. It was good, the learning curve is steep but the instructors help you have your own pace.
The stay is homely. Food is great.
They take care of travel from base camp to training grounds.
On our 4th day I was able to do a solo flight. It was the best experience of my life.

I’ve just finished the P1 course at Temple Pilots and had the best time! All the instructors are fantastic – so much passion for paragliding and a real drive to make everyone learn and improve. As a foreigner, everyone spoke in English when I was around, and made me feel so welcome. I’m sure Temple Pilots are unique for feeling like you a joining a family. The meals at base were amazing, and I wish I had stayed in the dorms to make the most of it (instead of staying at a local hotel where chicken wings gave me food poisoning!). Kamshet is a perfect paragliding spot because you are pretty much guaranteed to fly/learn to fly everyday – the same cannot be said in Europe. I hope I can go back to Temple Pilots and see everyone again!

I signed up for the APPI 1 Discover course, starting on 26th December 2024.
The setup at Temple Pilots is both warm and welcoming, yet highly professional and focused on safety—a perfect balance for learning the sport of paragliding. The course follows a progressive structure, beginning with ground handling, advancing to hops and mini-flights, and culminating in a solo flight from a hilltop at a height of about 200 feet.
At every stage, safety is prioritized above all else. The instructors are highly trained professionals who go above and beyond to support and motivate students. I faced some challenges during the ground-handling phase, particularly with inflating and controlling the glider. However, I received personalized attention from a dedicated instructor, and together we worked through the obstacles, allowing me to safely advance to the next stage of training.
The final solo flight was an unforgettable experience, making all the prior stages worthwhile. I was pleasantly surprised by how well I managed my emotions and stayed aware of my body movements—an achievement I credit to the rigorous and thorough training leading up to that moment.
This course has been a transformative experience, and I look forward to returning to Temple Pilots in the future to continue my journey with the APPI 2 course.

I had an incredible experience at the at Temple Pilots where I took APPI1 beginner’s course. The instructors were top-notch, showing a perfect balance of patience, politeness, and firmness when necessary. Thanks to their guidance, I was able to fly solo within just four days, which was a breath taking experience. (It requires a lot of practice though, but worth it, trust me!)

I did a SIV course a couple of weeks ago with Temple Pilots in Bilaspur.
It’s been a great experience.
I learnt a lot thanks to the experienced guidance of the team and talking to other experienced pilots taking part to the course.
The team has been very helpful in every aspect including reserve re packs, prompt and efficient rescue boat and fun to hang out with.
We had in depth briefings and de brief at the end of the day.
A big part of the experience, for me coming from out of India, was living with the locals.
Very kind and friendly families hosted us and cooked for us delicious, home made healthy food.
It’s been a retreat in some ways too.
Staying at the village on top of the hill was very relaxing and immersed in the surrounding nature.
I highly recommend Temple Pilots to anyone, from beginner level to more experienced pilots.

After a 7 days initiation training in the French Alps in August 2024, I have asked to TemplePilots School if I could come for a 3 days training session in Nov 2024. They immediately welcomed me. Contacts via Whatsapp were very friendly and professional.
The sessions were fantastic, beyond expectetion. They evaluated me on first day, and I already did a solo flight. On second day, the session was to perform on spot landing during 6 solo flights which led to 2 high hill flights on the last day.
The high hill flight were fantastic. It was a challenge to discover a new site and fly on Kamshet.
The team is very caring and professional. They are attentive to your remarks and requests. I did ask for autonomy that they gave, watching you to give you instructions in case corrections are required.
The atmosphere at the base is so friendly. I met many people to whom we shared so much. Some will remain friends for sure and we will try to plan future sessions together.
I will continue my training with templepilots during the Indian season, which fits perfectly the downtime of training in the French Alps.

I spent the most amazing 20 days here with Temple Pilots doing my APPI 3 course . From Avi, Anita and all their amazing instructors I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I came here from Ireland and was made feel at home for all my time here . The food and kindness extended to me was second to none. Amazing team of paragliding enthusiasts that take their training seriously and ensure that you learn at your own pace and level. I would highly recommend Temple Pilots Paragliding school if you’re a beginner or even advanced as the skillset available here is truly high end . I flew like a bird and covered almost 70 hours of flight time for the 20 days I spent there .
I got so much benifit from this training, I learn so many things , I learn how to control my mind in the times of different situation, if the weather does not permits us to fly I learned how to control my mind to be patience, and in the air while flying, when the glider goes wrong I learned not only the skills to control the glider but also to control my mental state not to panic,I think that’s a great lesson for me.
I really liked the APPI system of learning,, all the instructors act like our friend, we can share our problems with no hesitate, I like the way they guide me, they guide with gentle and soft command it’s really nice to hear it.. And I really liked the way how sir Avi treats his guys,, I also notice and I saw and hear many times that he praise the other instructor through radio command, I think it would be so nice for the instructors,, sometimes during the debriefing time, he says”let’s clap for sir vikash or others” , it’s so nice and I learned how to treat the other.
About the training, I learned so many things, how to stable our glider, why the collapse happens and how to manage it and so many things, it’s an amazing adventurous experience in my life that I can’t forget.
Lastly, I want to say thankyou to all the instructors and especially Sir Avi malik, for giving me the opportunity to experience this things and to become a better pilot and also to become one of a family member of Temple Pilots, I fell so proud of it.. SIV Advanced Course with Temple Pilots in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, India – October 2023
Having completed my initial SIV (Simulation d’Incident en Vol) training with Temple Pilots (TP) in Bilaspur in October 2021, I signed up for a second SIV course with TP in October 2023.
Bilaspur, conveniently located just three hours away from Chandigarh Airport, offers the perfect setting for this training, with the Sutlej River providing an excellent waterbody, along with complete infrastructure and ground support for SIV maneuvers.
As a student of Temple Pilots for nearly six years now, I currently find myself at the P4- level with more than 200 flights and over 80 flying hours under my belt. I recently transitioned to an EN B glider, the Niviuk Hook 6, from my previous EN A glider, the Gin Bolero 6.
SIV training serves two vital purposes for every pilot. First, it equips us to effectively handle emergency situations in-flight by simulating potential incidents. Second, it allows us to gain deep insights into our glider’s behavior and limitations.
It was an obvious decision for me to opt for SIV training with Temple Pilots. TP has been well-acquainted with my skill level, as well as my areas of improvement, which made it an ideal fit for my training needs.
The course commenced on October 1st and began with exercises focused on mastering pitch and roll controls. In the ensuing days, we progressively delved into more complex maneuvers, such as asymmetrical collapses with and without the use of speed bar, asymmetric collapses, frontal collapses, A-line and B-line stalls, riser twists, spiral dives with clean and dynamic exits, wing overs, and more. Unfortunately, due to my limited course duration, I was unable to execute deep stalls, a maneuver I had performed in my prior SIV training.
Each morning, we were treated to comprehensive pre-maneuver briefings, addressing any questions and concerns. Throughout our flights, clear and precise radio instructions guided us, prioritizing safety as the highest concern.
At the end of each day, debriefing sessions provided the opportunity for every pilot to share their experiences and receive further guidance.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Avi sir and Jitu Sir, whose expertise and efficiency ensured an incident-free and highly productive course.
Our stay at Bilaspur’s home-stay on Bandla Hill top was amazing. The delicious organic homegrown food, the warm hospitality, the friendly kids, and the beautiful surroundings made the entire experience memorable.
Yesterday means 23rd March 2023 it was my birthday n want to experience something unique. So I decided to do paragliding at Temple pilot flying school & It was really like a Dream I can’t forget my this birthday ever. After thorough research of 2-3 months on flying schools in India, I’m glad I landed on Temple Pilots. I completed a 20-day APPI-3 course here and would do it again! Few points that stood out for me – Safety. Every instructor and person involved with Templepilots made me feel extremely safe even when you’re high in the air you feel comfortable knowing these guys are there looking out for you. All the instructors were extremely professional and just felt like a bit of a family at the end. It’s a perfect bubble to keep your head in the game. I learned so much and would highly recommend a 20-day course as this is a sport that takes a high amount of dedication! And for me personally, this was my sweet spot. The food was another awesome point. Three meals a day, all extremely nice home-cooked. As I was an international student (Australia), I felt Anita, Avi, and everyone really supported me out of my comfort zone.

I did my 4-day APPI P1 training from Temple Pilots – I chose them after some research and multiple interactions with Arshi from TP. Without a second thought, Best place to learn paragliding in India. Absolutely Awesome founders, Amazing Staff, well planned training structure, Quality Equipment, Comfortable accommodation and Delicious food.
The course is planned in a very progressive manner to impart training from understanding your glider at ground to being able to fly independently – On time early morning starts, briefing sessions, on ground training, classroom Theory/video sessions, Debriefing sessions with individual feedbacks and practicing on simulator and Visualization. Every single member of the staff was not only an expert pilot, but knew how to impart the training to the new folks. They work on the physical and mental aspect of training and spoke to individuals when necessary – to manage fear, anxiety etc. And all this with absolute respect. The magic is in culture of the organisation that Avi & Anita have built. They care for every single individual working at TP with love and respect.
Bonus – you get to meet some very amazing people(fellow student pilots) with different perspectives and their stories. Had a great time here learning paragliding and some lessons for life. Will be back for P2 soon.

The best paragliding school in India. We did a 4 day P1 course and the overall experience far exceeded our expectations. The entire team is extremely professional, patient, disciplined and dedicated to the sport. The program and daily tasks are done with meticulous attention to detail. To really get the best out of what Temple Pilots has to offer, one must visit with an open mind and the right attitude. The benchmarks are high and it translates on the field. Temple Pilots fly a class apart from the crowd. The stay was wonderful, and the food was fabulous.

My flying experience has been surreal! There’s nothing quite like your first solo flight, its beyond amazing and words fall short to express my gratitude for this moment.
There’s so much to learn from everyone around, fellow, and senior pilots altogether. At the end of each day, you’d be content, mentally refreshed and in a happy state of mind! To add on, the food is great, and the accommodation is comfortable too.
On another side note, completely based on my experience, if you are planning to take up the 4-day P1 course – I would suggest keeping a buffer day in hand, even if you are a fast learner. Just in case.😊

Paragliding was on our Check list since long and we planned to do that in the Month of January with Temple Pilots (Kamshet).
We had a coordinator assigned to us a day before our Flight . They shared the Location and Time to Report on the OLD MUMBAI Pune Highway. Once we completed the form there was a small Brief about the fly.
Ride was very good and Instructor made us comfortable.
Video charges was separate from the package and you need to pay for the To and Fro Journey from the Reporting Point to Starting Point.

What a pleasant school this is! The instructors are really good and high standards are striven at all times. Safety is definately #1, which sets this school far apart from the competition. Yes, we were able to see the others school and saw many mishaps… i am from europe and before booking i was very sceptical about doing paragliding outside of europe, but now i would highly recommend. I had the privilege and pleasure of doing a Basic Course (4 days) in Coastal Paragliding with Temple Pilots at Bali in Aug 22. When the SIV at Bilaspur was cancelled at the last minute due to a VVIP visit, Temple Pilots was able to quickly arrange a Pre-SIV at Bir instead. It was fun doing the collapses, timed 360s and other Pre-SIV manouvers that one rarely does in regular flying. TP’s briefing and debriefing sessions were fun and informative as always.

What a fantastic experience. The team was well prepared for all of us including the lighter kids. We all got a wonderful briefing before hand so we knew they were the right people and well versed with tandem gliding. A few of us had doubts if we would be able to fly (either too heavy or too light) and were told as much beforehand so there were no misunderstandings but eventually they made us all go up and it was a blast. Special mention to all the safety protocols they followed and followed strictly.

I did the APPI 2 course (10 days) and thoroughly enjoyed learning and staying at Temple Pilots. Not only do they teach you the technical skills but perhaps more importantly help developing the right approach, confidence and mental strength which is so required for safe flying. Also found the extensive debrief sessions very useful where each flight of the day is discussed in detail and we get to learn a lot more from our own as well as the other students’ experiences.

If this is your first course, would highly recommend doing the P1+2 courses together over 7 days, rather than just 4 day P1. Since the learning pace would be different for each person and you may run out of days to do your first solo. Otherwise have at least 1 extra day in addition to your P1. Even if you are a fast learner, you’ll want to do more once the flying bug bites 🙂 Definitely something you should try out in life.

Amazing learning experience at Temple Pilots. I did the P1 course in 4 days, and the time spent there felt like 4 weeks. So many new experiences in just 4 days – be it meeting new and interesting people, the food there, the endless discussions and fun games, and ofcourse the paragliding training!
Speaking about paragliding training, I believe this is an international level school to embark your paragliding journey. Avi Sir is an institution by himself, and the trainers here are truly world class and also very friendly at the same time.
They put very high emphasis on safety of students, instructors and everyone around. Equipments used are of highest standards, and the reading material is also very good.

Such a wonderful time spent up in air flying with professional Jitu Sir, who was funny and caring. First time i did paragliding, no sign of fear or anxiety at all, it’s a MUST DO adventure. 1000feet above the ground level in magical wind doing thrill with the parachute, where for a moment i felt like a bird over magnificent mountain range with scenic beauty. Would like to give half less coz
1. Our site location got changed at the last minute…due to wind conditions which obviously is not in anybody’s hands.
But prior sensitization will definitely help the new flyers to be prepared for these kind of changes.
Coz as a tourist, most of us prefer to plan the whole itinerary..(in our case, which got badly affected ( but after flying, that disappointment got neutralized))
2. You will have to get your own SD card for video recording else you will have to pay extra apart from recording charges.
This was not “told” beforehand, instead shared in msg which was shared after last minute confirmation, although we were in contact since two days (Which most of us may miss reading. The way we missed)
These details can easily be communicated to new flyers before hand and before confirmation which will help in proper planning of a trip for wholesome amAzing experience.

The base camp is full of positive energy with everyone encouraging everyone helping each other out, sharing experiences. It feels like home. Kaka’s food is very delicious, and it tastes even better after a long flying session.
Trainers are fully professional certified pilots with APPI training licence. You can rely on them without a hitch. Also they are very polite and patient and will help you a again and again.

The instructors are very experienced and give perfect guidance to teach in a save and fun way. Avi and Anita are very friendly and welcoming, I felt at home right away. The flying sites are beautiful and perfect for learning and the prices are very reasonable. I love to fly with temple pilots and to be part of this amazing club of adventurous, open and friendly people.
Currently I am doing a 20 day course and every single day I cannot take this big smile off my face. The theory is well explained end also well tested and the instructors bring the theory into the field with practical excersises and exams aswell. After every flight there is a debrief to see what went well and what should be improved and this makes a huge step towards understanding the glider. I can see a big improvement every single day and so far in just 10 days we went to 5 different flying sites for soaring, 5 amazing spots with each different limitation points and a different traffic style so it is soo good to see the different ways of flying at different spots. Also the nature is amazingly gorgeous!
My longest flight within 11 days was already over one hour for just one flight! And even though it was a independend flight with almodt no radio instructions the instructors kept a very sharp I on the students and are watching every move of the student and their interaction with the other gliders to see they keep if they keep a safe margin and obey all the traffic rules (yes there are traffic rules in the sky 🤓).
There are always more then 2 instructors at site and we had a day that there where more instructors then students, they know exactly what to tell you to correct the glider if necessary and if you listen to the instructors your safety is for my part guaranteed because they know how to teach and to keep their students safe. I feel very safe all the time and have not crashed at all! On training hill I saw students of another paragliding school crash constantly because their instructors where not able to give the right information at the right time and this makes a huge difference.
Then the food.. as a European citizen I am not used to spicy food and I do not like food that is spicy hot but at temple pilots they made the food a bit less spicy for me so I could still enjoy it. The food is very nutricious and most of the time very tasty, if there was a dish I did not like that much there was always something else to eat or I just had some more dessert 🙃 there are fresh bananas, cucumber and carrots everyday and twice a day there is chai and cookies!! 🍪
Temple pilots is the highest ranked APPI school in India, it is a very professional paragliding school and definitely the best in whole India. For the prices they charge you will never get the same quality anywhere in the world.
I had no clue what I was going to experience until I did my first solo flight.
Enrolling myself to the P1 course was the best decision I have made to spent my new year (2019). Without doubt, it was an amazing experience. The feeling, which i cant put it in words but can only be experienced. It was worth my time, money and efforts.
TIME: P1 (3 days course), Who flies in 3 days? I was more than happy I did my solo flight on the 2nd day (Yeah, pat on my back)
MONEY : P1 (15k)Totally worth it, again who provides flying lessons for few grands. These guys made flying so cheap. I would rather say thank you to Temple Pilots for the low pricing and making the resource available for everyone to experience the joy of flying. Guys, seize this opportunity before they put the price up.
EFFORTS : All I did was went with the flow. Believe me, that’s what the instructors taught me first “go with the flow, don’t resist it”. The efforts, the instructors put in to make you fit for flying is phenomenal. Matter of fact, I was always sacred of heights (yeah, me a little princess) not until I took my first solo flight (hell yeah). I was surprised to know the instructors were so professional and the best at what they do. Of course, i doubted their ability(my bad).They made me feel at my comfort zone and they were humble enough to answer my silly questions (this time, pat on their back). I was so moved with the overall experience and felt so unlucky that I didn’t had enough time to extend and enroll for P2 course. But life is all about staying positive and this is first on my to-do list when i visit home next time.
To the people who is reading my review. common guys, just get yourself out on the field and experience the true bliss of flying. Make your own memories and experience. You will never know, until you give it a try.
Most essential, the food and accommodation was way up to the mark. I couldn’t have ask for more (kaki is a fantastic cook).
So everybody, have a good time flying and spread the love.

Temple Pilots is APPI registered paragliding school and their teaching method is very unique and easy to understand, all the instructors are certified and experienced.
The whole learning is done in very systematic format with high safety standards. Also they are equipped with latest world class equipments. Also each student gets equal attention and given enough time to learn on their own speed.
They so professional and perfect on training yet relaxed like home post training sessions.
People get same amount of love, care, ease and confort as home.
During free time all the pilots (students) and the instructors sit together, share experiences, play games and much more.
Also the accommodation and food is perfect.
Had been there for 7 days and not even once I felt like I’m away from home.
