P1 + P2 + P3 Paragliding Course in India

Hey everyone, so this is a story of how I fell in love with nature and flying with Temple Pilots.

I did my first tandem flight in 2021. Skipping to 2023, I tried learning the sport with an organisation in Bir. I did solo flights and enjoyed them but didn’t get to know much about the sport except ground handling. Thankfully I met some “Temple Pilots” club pilots in Bir itself and they suggested me to do the further training with Temple Pilots. In 2025, I finally came to Temple Pilots base to get trained for the sport and major difference that I found was the attention to the safety, to the theory and to the details of the Paragliding. Believe me “safety” is the most important thing in Paragliding and the more knowledgeable/aware you are in this sport, the more safe you are in the sky. “Good pilot is not the one who knows how to take off, good pilot is the one who knows when not to take off”. Now that I know better about the sport, I realise how risky it was to have my first solo flight from the second highest Paragliding spot in the world.

My experience with Temple Pilots was blissful. Every instructor was so friendly and at the same time so serious about the sport, which is necessary and I want to thank Temple Pilots from the bottom of my heart and especially Avi Sir and Anita Ma’am for making Temple Pilots happen. I feel very grateful that I got to experience learning this beautiful aviation sport, paragliding, with Temple Pilots.

It’s all fun and games until this thing goes south, so I just want to say choose your school wisely, choose Temple Pilots.

Templepilots is the best paragliding school in India. It is affiliated to APPI , Switzerland. I completed my APPI 3 course from Templepilots in 2021 and recently flew under their supervision in April-2025 over the gorgeous flying site Pawana lake. Avi and Anita are the pioneers of paragliding in India. Their professional and transparent approach towards the training ensures you improve your skills as a pilot at your own pace while keeping your safety paramount. I would definitely recommend Templepilots to anyone looking for an adventure tandem ride or for becoming an independent paragliding pilot.

I had the pleasure of attending Temple Pilots for a month while undertaking the training to attain an APPI3 licence.

I don’t exaggerate when I say the likes of Ankush could guide you through a burning building, and not alone would you come out unscathed, but you would enjoy it.

You just don’t come across this wealth of experience concentrated in one place too often.

In an age of bluster, self-promotion, and narcissistic nonsense, they demonstrate what it means to be genuinely exceptional at what they do.

They are the real deal.

I would happily make the 7700 km trip from Ireland to India to train with them again.

My paragliding journey with TemplePilots was an unforgettable experience, spanning across different flying seasons with P1, P2, and P3 training. Each day presented new challenges and opportunities to learn in diverse conditions. The guidance from Avi Sir and the entire team, coupled with the expertise of seasoned instructors, fostered a strong foundation in safety and sound decision-making.

The vibrant community of club pilots and access to top-of-the-line equipment further enriched the learning experience. Interacting with renowned figures like Ajay Sir and FAI Judge Roland was an incredible privilege.

I spent the most amazing 20 days here with Temple Pilots doing my APPI 3 course . From Avi, Anita and all their amazing instructors I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I came here from Ireland and was made feel at home for all my time here . The food and kindness extended to me was second to none. Amazing team of paragliding enthusiasts that take their training seriously and ensure that you learn at your own pace and level. I would highly recommend Temple Pilots Paragliding school if you’re a beginner or even advanced as the skillset available here is truly high end . I flew like a bird and covered almost 70 hours of flight time for the 20 days I spent there .

Institute is best in the country for paragliding training . All Instructors are very professional and highly experienced . Since it follows APPI system so no doubt in terms of safety standards.
One more thing food there is awesome, u feel like home away from home 😋. I have done upto APPI 3 and planning to go for APPI 4 next year .

I completed a 20-day APPI-3 course here and would do it again! Few points that stood out for me – Safety. Every instructor and person involved with Templepilots made me feel extremely safe even when you’re high in the air you feel comfortable knowing these guys are there looking out for you. All the instructors were extremely professional and just felt like a bit of a family at the end. It’s a perfect bubble to keep your head in the game. I learned so much and would highly recommend a 20-day course as this is a sport that takes a high amount of dedication! And for me personally, this was my sweet spot. The food was another awesome point. Three meals a day, all extremely nice home-cooked. As I was an international student (Australia), I felt Anita, Avi, and everyone really supported me out of my comfort zone.

I have nothing but good things to say here and recommend.

What a pleasant school this is! The instructors are really good and high standards are striven at all times. Safety is definately #1, which sets this school far apart from the competition. Yes, we were able to see the others school and saw many mishaps… i am from europe and before booking i was very sceptical about doing paragliding outside of europe, but now i would highly recommend. It was truly a friendly and amazing experience!

The instructors are very experienced and give perfect guidance to teach in a save and fun way. Avi and Anita are very friendly and welcoming, I felt at home right away. The flying sites are beautiful and perfect for learning and the prices are very reasonable. I love to fly with temple pilots and to be part of this amazing club of adventurous, open and friendly people.

Currently I am doing a 20 day course and every single day I cannot take this big smile off my face. The theory is well explained end also well tested and the instructors bring the theory into the field with practical excersises and exams aswell. After every flight there is a debrief to see what went well and what should be improved and this makes a huge step towards understanding the glider. I can see a big improvement every single day and so far in just 10 days we went to 5 different flying sites for soaring, 5 amazing spots with each different limitation points and a different traffic style so it is soo good to see the different ways of flying at different spots. Also the nature is amazingly gorgeous!

My longest flight within 11 days was already over one hour for just one flight! And even though it was a independend flight with almodt no radio instructions the instructors kept a very sharp I on the students and are watching every move of the student and their interaction with the other gliders to see they keep if they keep a safe margin and obey all the traffic rules (yes there are traffic rules in the sky 🤓).

There are always more then 2 instructors at site and we had a day that there where more instructors then students, they know exactly what to tell you to correct the glider if necessary and if you listen to the instructors your safety is for my part guaranteed because they know how to teach and to keep their students safe. I feel very safe all the time and have not crashed at all! On training hill I saw students of another paragliding school crash constantly because their instructors where not able to give the right information at the right time and this makes a huge difference.

Then the food.. as a European citizen I am not used to spicy food and I do not like food that is spicy hot but at temple pilots they made the food a bit less spicy for me so I could still enjoy it. The food is very nutricious and most of the time very tasty, if there was a dish I did not like that much there was always something else to eat or I just had some more dessert 🙃 there are fresh bananas, cucumber and carrots everyday and twice a day there is chai and cookies!! 🍪

Temple pilots is the highest ranked APPI school in India, it is a very professional paragliding school and definitely the best in whole India. For the prices they charge you will never get the same quality anywhere in the world.
