I signed up for the APPI 1 Discover course, starting on 26th December 2024.
The setup at Temple Pilots is both warm and welcoming, yet highly professional and focused on safety—a perfect balance for learning the sport of paragliding. The course follows a progressive structure, beginning with ground handling, advancing to hops and mini-flights, and culminating in a solo flight from a hilltop at a height of about 200 feet.
At every stage, safety is prioritized above all else. The instructors are highly trained professionals who go above and beyond to support and motivate students. I faced some challenges during the ground-handling phase, particularly with inflating and controlling the glider. However, I received personalized attention from a dedicated instructor, and together we worked through the obstacles, allowing me to safely advance to the next stage of training.
The final solo flight was an unforgettable experience, making all the prior stages worthwhile. I was pleasantly surprised by how well I managed my emotions and stayed aware of my body movements—an achievement I credit to the rigorous and thorough training leading up to that moment.
This course has been a transformative experience, and I look forward to returning to Temple Pilots in the future to continue my journey with the APPI 2 course.
