Temple Pilots’ Blockbuster Flying Tour
For 19 years, Templepilots has been conducting its signature BaliBliss Flying Tours to Bali, Indonesia. It’s our annual pilgrimage and a dream come true for many pilots, especially low-airtime and first-time international flyers.
But this year, a twist awaited us: just weeks before departure, we learned that paragliding in Bali was banned for visiting pilots.

From Bali to Lombok – A New Adventure
Instead of canceling, we embraced the unknown. We turned to Lombok Island, Bali’s charming neighbor, and discovered two flying sites with the help of local pilots:
•SkyLancing – 200m AMSL, facing Southeast.
•Bukit Prabu – 200m AMSL, East-Southeast facing, near Kuta Lombok.
With warm support from site managers Edi and Dodi, the decision was made. 32 Templepilots club pilots signed up for the adventure.

After safe test flights, the sites were declared ready. The vibe quickly shifted from apprehension to pure excitement.

The joy of soaring above emerald ridges with ocean views was unforgettable.
•Experienced pilots launched first with crisp briefings.
•Low-airtime pilots were introduced through instructional tandems.
•Soon, the air was buzzing with wings, chatter, laughter, and a shared sense of exhilaration.
Flying in Lombok wasn’t easy—it demanded sharp piloting, focus, and anticipation. Pilots practiced top-landings, pitch control, wing-overs, and APPI 03-level maneuvers.
The learning value was immense. Every pilot—whether beginner or advanced—grew in skill, confidence, and experience.

Beyond Flying – The Lombok Experience
Lombok felt like Bali 15 years ago—less crowded, more authentic.
•5:30 AM hilltop meetups gave us stunning sunrises before our first flights at 6 AM.
•Strong winds made mornings perfect for training in smooth air.
•Evenings were spent exploring Kuta Lombok and sharing stories over delicious meals.
It wasn’t just a flying tour—it was an adventure, a celebration, a discovery.
