In the 18 years that I have been alive, I grew up thinking I had to be the best, I had to outperform, I had to be someone else to be accepted. It required me to always be on my feet to ensure I was better. I had to think about and overanalyse every action and reaction. It is how I taught myself to be.
As a 12th grader at Sparkling Mindz Global School, both my mentors Sreeja Ma’am and Happy Sir have brought me many opportunities to help me discover myself and find learning in every and all possibilities.
Coming to Temple Pilots with my school mentor(Minesh Happy) and peers(Adwaith Sai SR, Archita Anish, Karyhikeya Ravoor, Madhvik Dushyanth, Nikhil Varma) was one of the most transforming experiences and opportunities. I’m learning and practicing something that will last forever. I’m learning to go beyond my fear of heights, fear of not having control, and the struggle of overthinking and over-analysing.
On the day and time of our arrival we were welcomed with authentic, genuine and expressive conversations with a variety of people, including Avi and Anita. It is a growing and budding relationshion that has now grown to be a space where we are now, I feel open, safe, guided and and part of a community.
While I thought I feared the heights, just coming down in the sky with the wind on my face, the view in my eyes, the glider around and over me and my instructor in my ear, I suddenly thought I could conquer the world.
Don’t get me wrong, its not easy and its not for everyone. It requires ownership and accountability of ones own actions because in all ways your life is in your hands. It requires reflection and empathy because you are bound to make mistakes and to learn you need to look back and see things for what they are and see you for who you are. Most importantly, it requires you to have the intent to be free and enjoy, to let yourself learn from scratch.
None of this would have been possible without the Temple Pilots team and their patience, support and lovely food.
I’m going to be coming back here time and again, and maybe, just maybe you can too. I would definitely recommened this to you If you want to discover different aspects of yourself. If you want to find a community where you can belong, be yourself and challenge yourself. If you want to have some fun.
I’m looking forward to more such wonders. Thank you Anita, Avi and the entire Temple Pilots team.
