DAY 4 & 5 : There’s an upside to everything. Thanks to Panchgani ban that sent us on an exploration to discover some of the most beautiful sites we have ever flown. Two days n two stunning sites, thank you poor governance smile emoticon
Glad to see more club pilots Vistasp Kharas, Rohit Kawalay, Rohit S Bhadauria & Kartik Kathavate joining the action. Missing the likes of Sajid Khan, Sanjeev R. Chaudhari & several others. Flying has been an amazing discovery trip for the first timers, personal bests for those who have been here before & record breaking for the xc possessed. Our XC sharks Viz n Alok Mihani did a 70 km FAI triangle just yesterday. Alok has flown over 100 hrs of xc in the last three months & has done over 250 hrs in a season. If you wish fly distances like these, you will need commitment. The simple key being – to fly better, fly MORE.
But flying is not merely about scores, ranks & numbers, its much bigger than that. The two new sites offered us fun galore, not only in the sky but on the new grounds, new terrain & landscapes, new people n new villages & villagers too. Sachin Pathare, Jitendra Chindaliya, Akash Shelar got some very lucky evening soaring flights in light conditions and some good thermalling practice for others on Marley East. Anuj Puranik & Srikanth Ram excelled in catching rather weak thermals at low altitudes & climbing high & so did Sachin & Akash Shelar. Omkar n Sri had decent flights while Anita Deshpande & Kanan Thakur enjoyed their retrieve duties with chance encounters with a peacock n some very interesting people. Sachin stole another soaring flight with swallows for company on Marley west on my glider (Artik3) to everyone’s envy.
It was two marvellous days with bit of very enjoyable ‘Hike n Fly’ thrown in. Nothing gives me more delight than being on the mountains, searching n exploring and flying new sites n locales and discovering the marvellous beauty of nature. We were happy n hungry for more..
