DAY 3 – PARAGLIDING TOUR 2016

DAY 3 : We were further joined by birthday boy Srikanth Ram &Hard Rock addict Srikant Shippy Sharma. Happy n jubilant as the south east winds got better on take off at Harrison’s. Akash Shelar was getting ready for take off as our lead pilot of the day when the Police Van arrived. Its illegal to have so much fun & some of us were going to get arrested. Although the police was only interested in those pilots whose wings were open I knew ultimately I would have had to face the beast. No, the ban is not only for commercial tandem flying but all forms of paragliding. Although we had informed the Satara SP office of our flying activities it wasn’t enough and I was shown the official circular that clearly mentioned the ban
Who knew that the rest of the day was going to be in police stations than in the skies. 3 : We were further joined by birthday boy Srikanth Ram &Hard Rock addict Srikant Shippy Sharma. Happy n jubilant as the south east winds got better on take off at Harrison’s.

The authorities are ignorant about paragliding and no one even in the high offices knows how to handle the situation. All good they have done is banned the activity when they rightly perceived it was unsafe & being practiced extremely unprofessionally. Thereafter there is only a mental inertia that rules all our government offices. There would be no initiative from there end and we have to do the homework of educating them about the sport and how it can be safely practiced. We were off to Satara on this mission to the Collectors office & the Satara police headquarters to bring some light on the situation. We do see hope as the authorities were impressed with our credentials and track records but it may take some time. We would need to arrange meetings with the higher ups & include the offices of Tourism & Home affairs.
It was rather interesting how life throws new challenges & its a lot of Fun if you can go with the flow without expectations and allow what is beautifully unfolding. We met wonderful people, had nice laughs and enjoyed the play of life through us and as us. Today started at the Local Panchgani police station & we’re off to flying somewhere safe. If you don’t hear from us you will certainly hear of us
